They're going to be published in digital-only format under the titles "Might Powerduck" and "Detective Mickey's Case Files" (if I'm translating the Japanese title of MMMM right)

well, I'm curious if we'll ever get a chance to evaluate the translations.
"Evronian" is translated as "Evronia-seijin" tho(probably to sound better/easier)

Was the planet named Evron or Evronia? Regardless, -seijin just means "aliens from planet [name]"; similar to how Dragonball has the Saiya-jin, IE inhabitants of Saiya, known in english as Saiyan. Simple grammar.

Well no, not really that similar. "-jin" when used as a suffix like this just means "people", so the "Saiya-jin" are the "Saiya people"... but there's never been any kind of mention of what exactly "Saiya" is aside from some references to "Saiya culture".

"-seijin" isn't really a suffix on its own, it's just the "-jin" suffix tossed onto the "-sei" suffix (which is the suffix for a planet), so here you get the "Evronia-sei-jin", ie "the people of planet Evronia". You get this in Dragonball too, with the "Namekku-sei-jin", the "people of planet Namekku", which became "Namekians" in English.

Yep. "Meitantei Mickey no jikenbo", a clear parallel to the very popular Japanese franchise "Kindaichi shonen no jikenbo" (Young Kindaichi's Case Files).


Not really sure how popular this is going to be, really. There's been attempts at marketing foreign Disney comics in Japan before, but Disney in Japan is so heavily associated with the movies and theme parks and nothing else that completely non-Disney movie-esque tuff on them like this just didn't find an audience.

No, Evron is in no way harder to pronounce that Evronia.

(saying Christmas "became" Kurisumasu isn't really correct either, "kurisumasu" is just a direct transliteration of the Japanese characters they use to write the word Christmas. In that sense they're not calling it Evronia either, but either "Evuronia" or "Eburonia". But that's just kinda missing the point of how Japanese works)

Which doesn't make sense really, as the story has nothing to do with the sun freezing. (Though such a scene actually appears later on, in "Fallen Star", when the Evronians try to suck Xadhoom's energy, and their first shot ends up bein fired at the sun instead, which loses power for a few seconds!)

Nonetheless I wouldn't be surprised if the series caught on, more so than "classic" Disney comics. After all, both Sciarrone and Pastrovicchio are big fans of manga, and although it's not as obvious in their earlier work, I think the detailed artwork could find some fans among the Japanese.

Having said that, "Day of the Cold Sun" (which is the more sensible title and was also used by IDW) could be a problematic issue due to it talking about the destructive possibilities of nuclear energy. It's about fusion, not fission, but still...
