Hi everybody- I am new to the board so forgive me if this has already been discussed.
I have been very nostalgic recently for the Slave Labor Graphics Disney comics. Today I reviewed the Sonny Liew "Wonderland" series on my blog. What are your guys opinions on this stuff? Which of these titles would you like to see reprinted? Rereading the Haunted Mansion series I am frankly amazed with some of what they got away with, lol.
Personally, I'm not familiar with them - this is the first I'm hearing of them, though I'm not the greatest barometer for what's well-known in the Disney comics world.
Now that you've brought it up, though, I'm very interested in their Haunted Mansion series! I'm guessing from your original comment that they're difficult to get a hold of, but... I might just see if I can get my hands on it.
Resident autistic, diabetic duck fan.
I love hearing about bizarre/obscure Disney works - recommendations welcome!
SLG produced, under their Amaze Ink banner, seven issues of Haunted Mansion in black and white single comic form. None of those are cheap or easy to find. They also produced a HC containing Aissues 1-6 that has a great presentation and comes in a slipcover. I’m fortunate to have this book that I got when it came out. Issue seven was not included as it was part of a new storyline introduced in issue six where a 1,000th happy haunt was introduced and the mansion had issues.
Under that same banner they also produced 12 issues, two series, of Gargoyles and six issues of Tron. Gargoyles is a bit weird as they published 8 issues but had material for 9-12. They produced two smaller TPB’s that included issues 1-8 plus the never published 9-12. A four issue mini was reprinted in a separate TPB. Slave Labor Graphics published the Tron TPB, the Gargoyles mini TPB, the Haunted Mansion HC, and the six issue Wonderland series.
Interesting info and post Erikwekrdness. I had no idea Alice was turned into a HC by Disney Press. I need to find this book, do you know if it’s full-size or mini?

The version I read was this one from Disney Press. It was a hardcover, standard American comics TPB size. It was full color on nice quality paper, was way slicker and less "indie" than other SLG books (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Squee, Leonore, etc). It was a decent read, I'd recommend it to Alice fans.
I LOVED the Haunted Mansion book but for some reason I am missing a couple of issues. It's a mixed bag to be sure, but I found the anthology approach more interesting than the current Marvel comic.

Some of the Haunted Mansion creators did a comic about the Winchester Mystery House after Haunted Mansion was cancelled, but I don't believe it was ever completed (maybe due to legal issues?)

I just googled "winchester mystery house comic book" and found that issue #1 is due to come out this coming Wednesday (Oct 27, 2021) from Source Point Press! I am going to call my local comic shop tomorrow! I have a brother who lives near San Jose, so I have been to the Winchester Mystery House. Plus, I have a song about it, "Ghosts (Sarah Winchester house)" by Jud Caswell, on my Halloween playlist....
