Before writing this post, I have to say I like Rosa's work (a lot of good writing and art) and I find it really interesting on its own, but that is the only way I can read it. What I mean is that I really enjoy his stories but I know that what I am reading happens in this "Rosa universe" where everything is super calculated. In fact, I don't usually consider his strict timeline nor his genealogy when I think about the duck family in general.
That being said, this thread is about Scrooge's father, that I will call "Fergus" because no other name has ever been given to him as far as I know (besides the obvious nicknames "Old Scotty" and "McPapa"). Well, of course Scrooge was born in Scotland, It's referred to in A Bucket of Scones (?/Strobl, 1956) and, in The Search for Cyril (Gregory/Strobl, 1960), we learn that is Hometown is called Cheapside. He came from a poor family, but his father (Fergus) did become rich actually. And that happened after Scrooge's mother either died or divorced from him.
In YD 68-10-03, Scrooge tells one of the ducklings that his father married a rich widow. Since it doesn't look like he is referring to his own mother and since his mother was probably poor too and not married before Fergus, I suspect that he has married again after (as said) either Downy's death or divorce.

What I am thinking is that this second wedding happened in the USA. And this is suggested by three evidences:
- YD 63-12-11, Fergus reupholstered a family antique chair in 1912 filling it with USD bills;

- ZD 60-05-08, Fergus buried a chest of money (again USD) in the garden of Scrooge's estate.

- W DD 77-01, Fergus owned the bank in an old mining town near Bear Mountain (USA).

So, considering these stories, my conclusion is that: somewhen between late 1800 and early 1900, Fergus came to US and married a rich widow (I don't think she could be Gideon's mother though), became rich and opened(/bought?) a bank in a mining town. In 1912, he reupholstered the chair so he must have been still alive. But, I think that he died some time after, maybe before Donald's birth (that's just a speculation due to the fact that Scrooge always refers to him as "my father" or "my daddy" and not as "your grandpa"), anyway I don't believe he is still around, à la Ducktales 2017.
What are your thoughts on this version? Could it work if we don't consider Rosa?
