It was just announced that the French writer François Corteggiani has passed away, aged 69. Active as a Disney writer since the mid 80s he wrote a lot of stories. Sadly very few available in English (and for me, Swedish). What's the thought of him among those who are more familiar with him?

My condolences to this grief. These days will inevitably come when some great or significant person sleeps away and they are always depressing days. I remember when Carl Barks "the Great Artist" passed away in 2000 at the age of 99. This sad news was told throughout the year 2000 on the inside cover of Aku Ankka magazines in Finland. But because I was too young, 4 years old, to mourn it when he died and therefore I have mourned his passing posthumously afterwards.
But right now, I prepare mentally for those sad days and the shock when we hear about the death of some big names like Marco Rota (now 80y/o), Daan Jippes (now 76y/o) and Don Rosa (now 71y/o) which may happen within the next few to ten years. And I want to be ready then so that it doesn't be such a big shock when these happens.

Script writer Egmont Pat McGreal passed away last year, aged 68. He did most of the work joint with his wife Carol McGreal, and they wrote some of the best stories I can remember. RIP.

I especially appreciated some of Corteggiani's stories starring the female characters. His Minni e lo scettro egiziano is one I would have loved to see as a child, when child-me wished for the female characters to go on some adventures of their own. (It's not highly rated on Inducks, but I think there's a general underrating of the girl-stories, certainly with some exceptions.) He also contributed a bunch of stories to the subseries starring Clarabelle called Les années folles de Clarabelle.

It's a grim thought to think that I have, at best, maybe 10 years left, as I am more or less in Daan's age group. I expect to be around for the next 20 +. Pat's dying so young, at 68, was a real shock to me.
