Totally forgot that today was the Mouse's birthday! Happy birthday, Mickey! One of my favorite fictional characters from a very, very early age. First known to me from very old shorts like Moose Hunters and Mickey's Parrot, and now known to me as the mystery-solving hero of Floyd Gottfredson's strips. Happy birthday, Mick! Oh, and a happy birthday to Disney's First Lady, Minnie Mouse, as well! Thank you to everyone who has made Mickey come alive over the years! (Order somewhat random): Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks, Burt Gillett, Wilfred Jackson, Floyd Gottfredson, Bill Walsh, Merrill de Maris, Romano Scarpa, Jimmy MacDonald, Wayne Allwine, Bret Iwan, Chris Diamantopoulos, Paul Rudish, Casty, Paul Murry, and many, many others. God bless, and long live Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
No matter what I say or do, know that Jesus loves you.
Mickey’s birthday rolled around the day before my Disney+ subscription ended, but at least I got to see the new Mickey Mouse documentary. Here’s hoping that our good friend Mickey continues to have success at Fantagraphics in their upcoming projects.
Yes, it was. It was informative (and of course a bit sentimental, but that is to be expected from Disney). The only disappointing thing is how much of the material in the documentary is NOT available on Disney+ (cartoon clips, Disneyland TV shows…). If they put more classic Disney material on the service, I would have considered keeping my subscription despite the fee increase.
