We are used to Mickey and Goofy's stories having mostly dognoses and other "mammals", with the occasional "bird" characters.
After all, duck characters are meant to be in Donald Duck's universe stories, right?
But sometimes, original duck characters still show up... and I find that a bit intriguing.
Pippo e la coscienza acchiappafurfanti ("Goofy and the Gangbuster conscience" - 1992): Goofy unknowingly gets hired as a fall guy by a crooked executive (an anthropomorphic rat). His secretary, Mrs O'Kitt - at least her name in the French version - is a duck.
It was a nice story and I was kinda disappointed she was underused. Despite her short appearances, she really felt like a kind and supportive person. And no, she isn't a love interest!
"L'ai-je bien dessiné ?"("Did I draw it well?" - 1993): Ellsworth wants to become a comic book artist. He is terrible at it, but he insists into showing it to an editor. He goes to a magazine's offices and meets with the receptionist, who is a duck:
French-made Disney stories tended to take some liberties with the main "canon"... Ellsworth was completely established as "human" level, other anthropomorphic animals included apes, rhinoceroses and hippopotamuses... And you have this duck woman who is drawn from the Donald/Daisy mold.
Hmm, I only know of two. One's a French comic, "L'ennemie dans la maison", starring Annie Zize. I like her design and I'm interested in the Michel Souris stories. The other is a random backgrounder in the first panel of "The Midnight Mysteries" (a personal favorite, so that's why I know).
EDIT: I just remembered a third, Spike (7) from the Riverside Rovers series.
Funny how this thread was opened now, since less than a day ago I accidentlally stumbled on the first page of the story Super Pippo e la Cronaca Buia (1998), and it struck me as odd that the first page featured a duck character, something that I don't remember having seen it before:
As for the character O'Kitt mentioned by Orora: she also has the same surname in the original Italian version, though here she is called "Miss O'Kitt".
Although it doesn't feature original duck characters, the story Super Goof Meets Super Thief (1966) includes a Duck Bay Bridge in the town.
Then again, some W-coded stories, including many Super Goof comics, use the idea that the Donald cast and the Mickey cast live in the same unnamed "town": this also happens in the story I just mentioned, which features Donald's nephews and a cameo by Scrooge.
Still, these stories don't show original duck characters, just the established cast of the Duck universe.
In the thread Atypical anthropomorphisms in Duck/Mouse comics Zantaf mentioned many unusual anthropomorphic animals in the Danish Mickey Mistery series, and at the end of his message wrote that they include ducks.
Of course, I don't know how this is really relevant since in Egmont comics Mouseton doesn't exist, and the characters of the mouse cast live in Duckburg.
