In issue 2197 of the French "Journal de Mickey" magazine, there was an article about Carl Barks's visit in France, and an inauguration in honor of his work, due to the 60 year anniversary of Donald Duck.
In the article, there was a small box of "believe it or not" trivia:
This drawing of Donald, being non-anthropomorphic, is quite strange. Does anyone know where it's from? Is it by Carl Barks himself? Others I asked (French and Italians) think it doesn't look like Barks drew it.
In fact, it looks as though it could be an edit of two different drawings. There is inking missing on part of Donald's mouth and neck.
One person said it looks more like Jack Bradbury's style. Another said the head at least looked like Barks.
Does anyone know? Thank you!

The head was definitely drawn by Carl Barks, and the body by someone else. I have seen a similar drawing with that actual Donald head somewhere else (perhaps drawn by Barks in a letter to a fan?).
I remember this (the complete duck) as a Barks illustration for a local newspaper in San Jacinto, but I'm not sure.
Yes, that rings a bell in my memory. But, I think that the scan above has only the head Barks drew, and the body portion has been redrawn (and not so well recreated).
It's for a water bonds campaign ("Don't let this happen to you! Vote Yes on water bonds, March 11") from 1952. Printed in Barks Library - Uncle Scrooge Adventures 39:

Holy smoke! What a find! Thank you!
So it is from Barks after all!
It is quite a random drawing to choose to illustrate a Barks commemoration article... and the French text around that reused non-anthro Donald doesn't mention any of this!

It does feel a bit redrawn. wing position feels off between the two. Maybe altered digitally to better fit the magazine layout?
I believe this is because Orora's picture is a photograph rather than a scan, and, since the page wasn't quite parallel to the camera, perspective tweaks things a bit.

That's right, I photographed the magazine.
