I wish she was in more comics, I had a few comics with her as a kid, I still have a old vhs with her stickers over it. The b cover for scrooge, art reminds me a lot of italian disney big covers
Yay, Mim in a new-to-us story *and* on the cover! Life *is* worth living, even with President Untrammeled Ego in the White House. It looks like this story, Heksenaanval: coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=H+21177
It's not only new to the USA, it'll be new to most of you on this forum: it's only been published in Finland and the Netherlands.
Isn't this the first appearance of Madam Mim in American comics in forever? Hooray!
When I wrote to Gemstone requesting a reprint of a Mim story, my letter was published in WDCS 657, and the editor responded: "Madam Mim is a feature film character and, technically, we don't presently have the rights to publish stories which contain her. Since the Beagle Boys are the title characters in the story, however, it's possible an exception can be made. We'll look into it." The story I requested never appeared.
So, yes, it's been a long dry season for us Mim fans. It'll be great to have her back for Halloween!

So, then IDW can't publish old Western Pub. stories using Snow White, Dumbo, Bongo & Lumpjaw, Bre'r Rabbit, Peter Pan, Barks Grandma Duck stories with Gus & Jaq, Dutch Madam Mim, Joe Carioca, Scamp (because Lady & The Tramp are film characters?), Ariel, Belle & Het Beest (Beauty & The Beast), Aladdin comic book stories? Even Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck were in feature films. There have been a LOT of different Disney feature film characters used in US, Egmont/Gutenberghus, Sanoma/Oberon/Geillustreerde Pers/VNU comic book stories. Can it be true that IDW can't use ANY of those?

GEMSTONE, not IDW. I wrote to Gemstone about Mim, many years ago.
Mostly Gemstone didn't publish stories featuring the characters you list. I actually asked about Scamp, and was told that since Scamp is the title character of the comics stories and he was not named in the film but was created for the comics, that was OK (and Lady and the Tramp could show up in the stories). Yes, you could say that MM, Goofy & DD were in feature films, but "feature film" here was obviously a defined category which did not include them. I have no idea what the actual license said, so no point in asking. Perhaps they couldn't have a title character be a character created for one of the full-length animated feature films, I don't know. Anyway, I'm sure IDW Disney's license is set up differently.

Why all the shock? Disney decides which characters and "brands" each publisher is allowed to use. It varies from time to time.
In countries where just a single company has enduring rights to publish all domestic Disney comics—the Netherlands is one—then that publisher can generally use all of those characters. In the USA, the licenses have been split and rejuggled constantly since about 1993.
At IDW we're generally allowed to use all the Ducks, all the Mice and Goofs, *and* whatever other characters have historically featured as stars in WDCS—with exceptions. We have Scamp and Brer Rabbit. We don't have Winnie the Pooh. We used Gremlin Gus stories a couple of times, but were later asked to stop. (Luckily, as of the last one we published, every Gremlin story has been reprinted in North America in at least some form.)
Is this the reason for the slashing of the Disney line and the lack of Walt Disney Showcase despite it being announced as starting in September? Not to mention all the new titles and lines they have going. Could get cut throat.
I think the date for the Uncle Scrooge might be wrong, unless it varies from state to state. I just bought that one today, on Oct. 21, so it probably came out a few days ago, instead of the 25th. Perhaps IDW changed the date since the original post was posted.

IDW often changes the date of publication of comics. For example: DuckTales #2 was to be released Oct. 11, but current release date is Nov. 1.
The scheduled release dates for these comics change frequently. Look at the list of upcoming comics linked in my signature for an up to date list of what's coming out when.
