Yes! I have this story in the same book with the fiume del tempo, very deep stuff both of them, I was actually thinking how it reminds me of Rosa, as you stated. And I did forgot Celoni, I actually though him and Mottura are the same guy when I was just getting into these comics and found superb art of both of them, I have the trilogia horror that Celoni drew, great artist
If there is another Carl Barks or Don Rosa or Romano Scarpa, they will most likely be from Denmark, the Netherlands or Italy. Or not working with Disney characters.
Funny, I don't care for Celoni's art at all though I love Mottura (most of the time)...
One who I thought could become Italy's Don Rosa is Francesco Guerrini. But unfortunately he stopped writing his own stories and, while I still think his drawings are unusual and impressive, you can't really become a full-fledged Disney legend if you only draw others' plots.
Besides Casty and Faraci (who is also great at action stories - PKNA anyone?) I would also nominate Francesco Artibani as one of the great current Italian writers. Fausto Vitaliano is good as well. And I'll second Marco Gervasio, who has developed a pretty unique artistic identity despite borrowing from Barks, Cavazzano, Rosa & many others...
