Hey guys! Christmas is soon so I'd love to know your favorite christmas stories. I want you to choose 3 stories: -A Carl Barks christmas story -An italian christmas story -A christmas story that is from an author other than Barks and a country other than Italy.
Here are mine: -A Christmas For Shacktown for Carl Barks, I think it' his best christmas story. Poor people were never depicted in such a realistic way in a Disney story before. And Barks show that despite being poor they enjoy what they have (the kid with the sparkles in his eyes is priceless, I shed a tear). And it shows what christmas is about: giving to others.
-Paperoga e il ritorno della renna by Alberto Savini and Marco Gervasio, I love the friendship between fethry and the deer, plus I love its chubby design.
-The Abysmal Snowman by Carol and Pat McGreal, and José Maria Manrique. It's a funny story about DD trying to scare kids with his snowman costume, but gets stuck in it.
By the way, did you guys see the trailer for "Santa & Cie"? An upcomming french movie, I saw it in an article in the new "Picsou Magazine". I don't know if it will be translated to english, but the effects are very nice and the music is good: www.youtube.com/watch?v=spz7uShkS_Q

Barks? Gonna go with The Thrifty Spendthrift, its premise is bonkers enough to be extremely appealing in a weird way.
Italian? I bleedin' love Silvia Ziche's 2012 Christmas four-parterUncle Scrooge and the Christmas GenerosityTM. From the art to the writing and the plot, I just really, really like that story.
Other than Barks ot Italian? I suppose I'll have to be unoriginal, but, yeah, The Richest Duck in the World too.

To the people who answered Christmas on Bear Mountain, what appeals to you so much about this story? While some of the Scrooge stuff is nice enough, I always found it a rather by-the-book story that wouldn't be at all remarkable were it not Scrooge's debut. But I'm interested in hearing other opinions!

I like "Christmas on Bear Mountain" a lot because it shows Scrooge's deviousness, and his values, wanting to leave his fortune to a "worthy" individual. His idea of being worthy in this story (and ONLY this one) as being brave, as opposed to prudent and thrifty, as in all the others, is the main reason. Also, Barks' depiction of fear (the scared look in Donald's eyes) is extremely funny, and priceless (thus classic drawings).
Barks: A Christmas For Shacktown Italian: (I TL 2717-1) Another Christmas on Bear Mountain Other: (H 21150) Christmas Clubbing
"Shacktown" is one of my top-two Barks Christmases, and "Another Christmas" is one of my top-two Italian Christmas stories, so on another day I could have ended up with the same list as you!
