"A Tale of Two Biddies!" in US #35 looks interesting with both Birgitta and Goldie in the same story. And I like that IDW mix it up with both old stories (that is new to the USA) and also recent ones like this story.

Showcase #2 seems to have a Mickey and Goofy story taking place in modern time, but is a sequel (according to inducks) or has references to another story with "Mickey the Kid" and "Six-Gun Goofy". I haven't read the new one, but I think it would have been more interesting if the story it's a sequel to actually was available in English too (or is it?). The first story in this series of western parody/alternate universe kind of stories is actually available in English on comiXology, there as "Mickey Kid and Goofy Six-Shots".

The 3rd Donald and Mickey issue have "Treasure Menace in Venice" and "The Terrifying World of Tutor", a new Casty serial. The whole Casty-story won't fit in the issue, so I'm assuming we only get the first of 3 parts. In the time of series being cancelled all the time, at least it's good to know we probable get another one or two D&M issues (yep, that's how I think every time we get a new solicitation list…). But I think it's a bit strange having a serial in a series that is marketed as standalone titles without any numbering on the cover. People randomly picking up the next issue probably won't expect to get the second part of a serial and need to do a little bit of research to find out what the name of the previous issue is if they want to get hold of that.

Tutor is my favorite casty story, its an ecology themed story which is not his first, you guys are gonna love it

Another Kruse/Verhagen ghost story in English, yay! I just said on the "favorite Scrooge stories not by Barks/Rosa/Scarpa" thread that Kruse is particularly good at spooky stories. He and the Shaws each contribute several stories to my annual Halloween re-read.

And I'm always happy to see Goldie turn up in a story. And that cover by Rodrigues is great--he can really draw Magica, as we saw in "Himalayan Hideout."

Tutor is not the most childish story by Casty, but definitely the most childish one among his long famous ones. I can understand the success of many of his long tales, but this specific one...why?? Now that names are back in the inducks, you can read there my spoiler-free comment on the story. 

Maybe after reading it some American fans will be able to illuminate me on the interest of this story. (Even if I guess that the translation will make disappear or at least edulcorate the greatest flaw of this story imho, namely the childish dialogues.)

To me the story is worth reading - if it is - only for there is Ega, whom Casty can use pretty well!

Just curious, Monkey_F --am I right that you read Tutor in the original Italian, and not in translation? I just wanted to be sure you were commenting on Casty's own dialogue.

I read it in Italian and French.

In the last couple of years I have started to occasionally buy Super Pisou Géant, especially when it contained Casty's stories that I did not own. So I have read some of his stories (maybe eight, ten?) only in French.

But Tutor is one that I read in Italian. I also quickly re-read it in French last year, when it appeared on SPG. (The French translations are very close to the Italian original material, by the way.)

I do not mean to state that the story is particularly bad. It's always Casty. It is just the one where the little flaws of Casty (talking to readers in a childish way, cheap environmentalist metaphors, lame or absent humor) explode, taking the lead over the good narrative ability of Casty, which I would never deny.

I was blown away by the German version. Generally our translations are very good and often even enhance the humour, but obviously I can't compare.

Our Topolino expert commented on it when he read it and said he liked it far more than Casty's first two long tales (The World to Come and Quandomai Island), which he still rated highly. The irony is that those two were printed in the main LTB series, wheres Tutor was buried at the end of a subseries' issue. But I agree with his assessment.

In fact, you can thank me for bringing the story to IDW's attention, because I started raving about it when I read that Plan Dine from Outer Space was printed in the US!   I hope they will use Casty's UN cover for the issue printing the next part.

If “Spectrus” is who I believe “he, she, or it” to be, then “he, she, or it” is indeed responsible for IDW publishing this story! …And, for that I offer my thanks once again!

Once it was brought to my attention, I lobbied for it – and got the translation and dialogue assignment!

Now, that *may* be good news to some (hopefully, most) of the people here… and it *may not* be good news for certain others – like the person on this forum who once called for both MY job and that of the person who hired me – but, nevertheless, the script will be by Yours Truly and, as is always the case with Casty stories, I am treating it with the utmost care and respect! I hope ALL of you will enjoy it!

Casty is the creator today that I most believe in, and “Tutor” is indeed a great one!

Now, please do not let this become an argument – because I will not participate – but I am curious as to why this story would be considered “childish”.

Is it because it is environmentally themed? Yes, it is indeed environmentally themed! So were a lot of Barks stories! Do we say that about them? I’d like some calm and respectful discussion on this… like we always have on my own Blog. (…No calling for anyone’s jobs, okay?)

Indeed, as I said to David Gerstein, we need this story now, more than ever!

Agree! That's a great one as well. My only gripe with it is that the opening scenario is maybe a bit too similar to that of "The Delta Dimension", but that's a minor complaint. My favourite modern-day Blot story is still this one: Topolino e l'uomo ingannatempo

And Fausto Vitaliano has also made a great story with the Blot drawn by Lorenzo Pastrovicchio: Topolino e l'occhio di Macchia

Maybe it's actually a good sign if something is being controversially discussed. Better that than simply being harmless and uninspired... (and Matilda: it actually WAS in the Top 100 for a while but dropped out again)

Finally, again thanks to you (Joe) for taking my offhand comments so seriously and lobbying for this "interesting" story   And I think most of us are glad that Casty is doing what he's doing, even if our ratings for the actual stories differ from one person to the other (and I will admit that his art improved since 2010... with coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+3146-2 currently marking his apex). But I really hope he has some more aces up his sleeve

I ve read it three times, ombronauti story is also one of my favorites and avaloa story is very nice, reminds me of Barks tropical island adventures

We will discuss the story when printed in the US. (Or if you can't wait, you can read my comment on the inducks as linked by Spectrus above, where you will find that I am not the only one in this position.)
But I can answer this point right now: NO, it is not the environmental theme that makes it a bit childish in my view. One of my favorite stories by Casty, Topolino e il segreto della balena bianca, is his most environmental one, and yet I love it deeply.
