The Funniest Moments in Disney Stories! (intentional or not)

One of the main purposes of the Disney comics is to make us laugh!

I have quite a strange sense of humor, so I am not really the type who would usually laugh at the jokes most people would call hilarious...

But there are times where I can actually find something funny, even if the author didn't intend to!

Many years ago, I bought in Rome an old 1970s' Topolino magazine; it contained a story ("Donald VS Colossor") about Donald and Scrooge capturing a big gorilla and showing it to the public while locking it inside an electrified cage. Of course, it is a King Kong parody, so you know what's gonna happen.

Donald is stupid enough to tell the audience that the gorilla can only escape if the cage's power is cut by pressing a button... while pressing the button to demonstrate.

Okay, it is very forced, but it's not what I find funny. What I am talking about is the scene that happens right after...

Scrooge's expression really makes me laugh to tears!

Is it because he seems more like he is smiling instead of being panicked that Donald is about to unleash a King Kong monster? With a stiff, right-in-front "camera" angle unfitting to show his expression?
Is it because he is staying in place, just screaming "Nooo!" and slowly waving his hands (in the air like he just don't care) instead of angrily jumping on his stupid nephew in order to stop him?

How about you? What moments in Disney Stories made you laugh, intentionally or not?

The funniest moment I can remember is from an Enrico Faccini story.
Donald's colleague can't stop saying "ktinn" and "ktann' all the time and he's driving Donald crazy.
So Donald asks him to stop and the colleague tries to do so.
They're working is silence...


and then all of a sudden...

It is fine to post scans of Disney stories from other Disney Universes like Forest, Scamp, Hiawatha, Bucky Bug, other Disney movie universes etc? Some of other Universes also have some funny moments not just the Duck or Mice Universe. Here are my opinions on the scans of these two italian stories that you have posted:

I TL 978-B: I think Scrooge's expression looks really funny in the last panel and I agree that his expression looks more like he is smiling than he is scared. 

I TL 2153-1: I actually own this story on the greek Μίκυ Μάους 1747 and yes, this moment was very funny. Look like the first scan of this scene is from the greek version that was published on Κλασσικά Ντίσνεϋ 239. If you don't know, "Κι έτσι..." means "And so..." in greek. I wonder how can non-greek fans read greek Disney magazines without any problems? The greek is very difficult language for most non-greeks. The quality of the second scan looks too french to me. Maybe it is the french version that was published on Minnie Mag. 31?

Ah, I can remember your funny moment, jumbojr. The art looks kinda like Sylvia Ziche's on this character.

Well, since the thread says,"funniest moments, intentional or not"...
It's rare that I laugh out loud at anything in comics, even when I find something amusing, but Don Rosa has made me do that several times.
For example, virtually every scene in "Forget It" is hilarious. Probably the funniest Disney comic, nay, any comic, I've ever read.
The Beagle Boys laughing about how identical HD&L are in "An Eye for Detail" (and calling Scrooge a villain for working Donald too hard) is classic, as well. Not to forget the part where Donald says he recognizes one of the nephews by the mole behind his ear, and Scrooge asks, almost as an afterthought, "ear?" (This is probably the second funniest Disney comic I've ever read!)
Rosa's reputation as an expert adventure yarn spinner is well-deserved, but his sense of humor is second to none!

It's the same with me, Baar Baar Jinx--Rosa is the writer who has made me laugh out loud. A few moments that come to mind, off the top of my head: (1) when HDL are in the library in Tralla La, and Huey finds a manuscript with a fact *not* found in the JW Guidebook; (2) in "Treasury of Croesus" when Huey and Louie give the speedreading medal to Dewey (also, Dewey's translation of the encomium to Zeus); (3) the scene where Donald is being carried in a sling between two large birds (IIRC) and muses that if he were a Junior Woodchuck, he'd be enjoying this.

Don Rosa is a very good gagman indeed. His comics are not the funniest thing I ever read (that would be Greg's "Walter Melon" or Goscinny's "Astérix", both in the original version of course), but are certainly among the funniest Disney comics I ever read.

This panel is immensely funny to me for some reason I can't quite understand. I guess just how non-chalant Mickey looks despite what he's doing.

Ha ha ha! . That's a panel that totally made me laugh when I first saw it! I think it's one of the funniest moments that Mickey have done. *chuckles*.

There was a Brazilian Donald & Fethry story that I always found funny.

It's Com Vocês... TV Patinhas, and was published twice in France (rare for a Brazilian story!).

Donald and Fethry have to shoot a live TV ad for barbells of a brand called "Macho".

Donald's barbells are lifted by invisible strings (because he isn't strong enough) and he is wearing a special bodysuit connected to an air-blowing machine, so that it can simulate growing muscles.



Fethry:"Careful! Three, two, one... action!"
Donald: "Are you desperate? You have no muscles? Macho barbells are the right thing for you!"

But the machine is malfunctioning!


Fethry: "Oh, oh! It broke down!"
Donald: "...allowed me to get an athlete's torso!"


"Magnificent, dashing muscles! ... that keep on growing day after day!"

After all those years, I have imagined the exact tone of voice Donald is saying those lines...



Fethry: "My god, how horrible!"
Donald: "If you want to look like me: d... do what I do!"

I love the contrast between the two speech bubbles!



Fethry: "We can't cut, this is live!"
Donald: "Macho barbells..."

Yes, it's almost like it was a bad idea to do a TV ad live, instead of just taping it so that you can avoid this kind of problems.

About the live commercials, it's weird how this keeps happening in Disney comics: it's also in "Lentils of Babylons", as Geox has pointed out. Perhaps live commercials is the norm in this world, for some odd reason.
