I just ordered a copy of Topolino 3239 with il nuovo canto di Natale in it, because even though I can barely read Italian, I want to see Scrooge's family of origin drawn by Silvia Ziche! I can't wait! If anyone has the issue and feels like scanning some of the images, I'm sure others on this forum would love to see them, too.
I found the story on Inducks by looking at the index of stories with Goldie. Over the years I've managed to get copies of almost all of them, in English, French or German. I was interested to see that there were a few very new ones, including Nærum/Midthun's Clues of the Klondike, Oscar ten Houten's Kerst en zaken and the McGreals/Rota's The Good Old Days. Anybody who has read any of those want to comment on them?
Of course, this search was inspired by U$ 35 with another recent Goldie story, A Tale of Two Biddies. I haven't warmed up to Brigitta at all, but it was fun to see Goldie in a new story!
The Arild Midthun one is beautiful and funny! They really managed to channel Rosa in a modern sort of way, though it doesn't go as deep as Rosa (or Barks) of course. There's also a two-page riddle story connected to it, with just as good art: inducks.org/story.php?c=D+2017-141 and a nice cover: inducks.org/story.php?c=D+27843
This was actually one of the few Mickey Mouse magazine issues I bought in recent times, and precisely because of the cover and the content!

Thanks for the recommendation! No one is selling that issue of Micky Maus on eBay.de right now, but I will keep an eye out for it!

My copy of Topolino 3239 just arrived. Haven't tried to translate/read it yet, but the art alone makes me very happy. The McDuck family from Scrooge's childhood, plus Goldie & co. back in the Klondike, and all drawn by Silvia Ziche! Those few pages of art are worth what I paid for the issue. Nice to see that Barks-and-Rosa-backstory stuff in an Italian comic, too.
I see that Oscar ten Houten's Kerst en zaken also features flashbacks to Scrooge's family in Scotland, as well as to Goldie. It sounds like there are now three Christmas stories (with Byron Erickson's) that feature flashbacks to Scrooge's childhood in Scotland, with these two of them also including Goldie flashbacks.
