Forgive me for bringing up such dark topic but this bother me more then once while reading Barks "Back to the Klondike"...
Did any of you wher ever under the impression that story implies that Scrooge beaten Goldie? (as in "harm physically") Not after they got to his claim but when he force her to make the I.O.U., between these two panels :
Maybe it's the very violent tone of the scene and I'm not saying that this was Barks intention... It just crossed my mind today again while re-reading this and I wonder did ony I ever got this this interpretation.

…No, can't say I have. In fact, my impression was that those two panels had taken place precisely one after the other. That it was Scrooge in "someone owes me something and dammit they're going to pay" mode, shrugging off the nugget to the head and just keeping on making demands; with Goldie recognizing Scrooge's greed for what it is (a force of nature that cannot be negociated with) and giving up as the explanation for her different attitude.

Hmmm..... I see what you mean, but I never got that impression. I'd always figured he just threatened to report her to the authorities or something like that.
