Just came back from an exhausting day at work so I'm just going to link the PreviewsWorld pages for each comic for now and I'll edit this into a proper post later.

Disney Afternoon Giant is interesting. Looks like an all-reprint title; I wonder if they'll be reprinting stories from the Disney Comics Inc., era or just sticking to Boom! and Joe Books material?

From the credits given, this one looks to be Boom! material, possibly the first issues of DuckTales “Rightful Owners” (please, no, IDW! Don’t do that to us!) and Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers.
DuckTales 14 is said to have a two-part tale--does that mean that there will be only one story, the full length of the book? THAT would be a refreshing change. Wish they could have done that with one of the Della adventures.

Information about the monster story is already added to the inducks database (part 1 and part 2) even if it isn't published anywhere yet. Looks like it's two 10-pagers, and Ducktales #14 A cover and B cover both have a monster and TV cover. So I'm guessing both parts are printed in the same issue. The A and B covers usually are for one of the two stories inside, so if the two parts was in different issues we would probably see another B cover.

The Disney Afternoon title sounded interesting at first. With a "blast from the past" and "classic stories" I got my hopes up to see some of all the stories in the 90's Disney Adventures magazine reprinted. Theres still a bunch of stories I haven't read from this magazine.
But looking at the credits it sounds like we will get Rightful Owners and maybe also Dangerous Currency and/or Worldwide Rescue. They were originally printed serialized in 22 page parts, and as the new title is a $5.99 comic it will probably have about 44 pages of comics in each issue. So I'm guessing two parts from two of the stories mentioned above will be printed in each issue. I'm just speculating here of course, but if this is the case this might be the first Disney series from IDW I'm not going to buy... I'm already in doubts about the Scrooge's millions series too, which I don't have much interest in.

Yes, I already own all the Boom! Disney Afternoon material in individual issues or trade format. I'm not going to plonk down another six dollars to buy reprints of such fairly recent stories. On the other hand, as you pointed out, the Disney Adventures material is hard to find and has only ever been collected, and not in its entirety, in Disney Comics Inc.'s Disney's Colossal Comics Collection, back issues of which themselves are unavailable most everywhere (and which also contained new and never reprinted stories); that would seem to be a far better candidate for reprinting. I hope IDW hears us and brings that material back eventually.
The existence of Disney Afternoon Giant seems to confirm that IDW currently holds the license for Darkwing Duck.
I would like to say that I hope this means we could get a continuation of the Joe Books Darkwing comic but given IDW's reluctance to produce their own material using the Disney properties, I sadly doubt it's going to happen.

What about the DuckTales 2017 book, though?
If you're suggesting that the material being published in IDW's current DuckTales title is work commissioned by IDW themselves, I don't think that's correct, although they seem to somehow be publishing it first. However, this has never been made completely clear; could someone please explain it?

According to Inducks, the source of all of the Ducktales'17 comic material to date, except for some of the covers, is "Disney Publishing Worldwide", and coding them with "XPW" for the stories and "XPWC" for the covers. A lot of it seems to originate with Italian writers and artists, though not totally--Joey Cavalieri, who has written some of the DT'17 comic stories, used to work for DC Comics in the US as an editor. It almost seems like it's based on the old "Studio Program" in ways, but that's only my own speculation, and may be very wrong.

Good snooping work, Fritz. But regardless of whether IDW ordered the DT17 stories directly, whatever process produced them might as well turn up a Darkwing Duck book, too, for all we know, that IDW could publish. Or (who knows?) a Darkwing 2017 book, whenever the 2017 Continuum version of D.W. makes his proper debut.

Any further official word on Disney Afternoon Giant? Is it confirmed that it's reprinting BOOM! material? It's crunch time, I need to decide whether to pre-order it or not, and if it's just recent material I already own, I'll be giving it a miss. (IDW's missing a great opportunity to start this title off strong by reprinting hard-to-find, out-of-print Disney Comics Inc./Disney Adventures/Disney's Collosal Comics Collection material, unfortunately).
