I also think they will go with "Glomgolds wins the best and Scrooge looses his empire" angle. It would be a perfect dramatic thing for "episode near the end of the season" conclusion (like "The last flight of Cloudcaser") to have Scrooge loose all his money and the bin, perhaps at the moment it would be most usfull to him.
Honestly at this point with Glomgold being so much played up as an harmless idiot I would actualy use this to showcase Scrooge's hubris - have him overestimate how much "one step ahead of Glomgold" he is and have him loose badly (even if it was "Turtle vs. the hare" victory for Glomgold) Of course with Scrooge turning things back to normal at the end of the season.
I always do like complexity when a story go where the antagonists aren't evil but thinks he is doing the right thing. The General will have to find some darn good motivation to convince his people 100% that the earth needs to be destroyed if it will be more then just played for lauhgs. Also I do wonder will the promised Villain team-up play into this. I can imagine the villains helping out Duckburg during the invasion (Don Karnage can be very usefull here), but I can very well see a scenario where Glomgold would betrayed his own planet and help out the aliens for the sake of beating Scrooge... which would be hard to have him around after that season since I don't even want to imagine the consequnces for such action.
I think I mention this before but if Magica was the "big bad" of season 1 and Glomgold is the "big bad" of season 2, I can only imagine The Beagle Boys taking center in season 3... they been building up them wanting to reclame Duckburg as Beagleburg since the beging. I hope this build-up won't go wasted (even if Beagle Boys rulling the town feels like a small potato compering to threat of evil shadow attack and alien invasion)

So the Moonlander invasion is coming, and I wonder how they're gonna handle a battle against a mostly good people. It's not like in "Shadow War", where they fought against an army of evil, irredeemabe shadows, this a people that showed to bequite friendly and whow I'd feel bad for if they suffer in the end. So this might be quite a bittersweet battle.
