Which characters from animated shorts, movies and TV Series should have appeared more? I noticed there are some characters who didn't appear that much like Max Hare and Toby Tortoise from The Tortoise and the Hare shorts. Toby have made more appearances in other stories than does Max. It's too bad that Max was used in less stories compared to Toby but I wish that both of them should appear in more stories together not just having Toby himself appearing in other stories alone. They're both Silly Symphony characters like The Three Little Pigs, Big Bad Wolf, Bucky Bug and Little Hiawatha. Another Silly Symphony character that I would like to see appearing in more stories is the Ugly Duckling (the 1939 version because the 1931 one has never got any comic adaptations). Most of his appearances were comic adaptations of the animated short. He was also seen in the comic adaptation of the first Lilo & Stitch movie but his appearance only in a book. Sadly, the only appearances that featured him with other Disney characters were in only two covers by Western and another cover that was probably made in Finland. Here are the scans of those covers:
It's interesting to see how Big Bad Wolf was trying to eat Ugly Duckling before Grandma Duck felt sorry for the poor duckling and stops him with her umbrella in the Vacation Parade cover. Those covers made me thinking what if some stories featuring Ugly Duckling with other Disney characters were made? I would love to see some stories where he meet with other characters like Bambi, Thumper, Flower, Seven Dwarfs, Wicked Witch, Chip 'n' Dale, Three Little Pigs, Big Bad Wolf, Li'l Bad Wolf, Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, Brer Terrapin, Molly, Dumbo, Timothy, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Bucky Bug, Little Hiawatha, Scamp etc. Having him appearing in Mice stories or Ducks stories is a good idea too. As for the movies, I noticed that some of movies didn't got so many normal stories after the comic adaptations like 101 Dalmatians, The Rescuers and The Fox and The Hound. Not many of the 101 Dalmatians stories were made compared to Scamp who have appeared in more stories than the dalmatians. The Rescuers haven't gotten so many stories either but I noticed that The Great Mouse Detective (another Disney movie with mice as main characters in it) have gotten more stories in the Netherlands than The Rescuers. I wonder why the dutch writers likes to write more stories featuring TGMD characters than The Rescuers? I always thought that TGMD was more of a less-known movie than The Rescuers. The Fox and The Hound is another movie that got some normal stories after comic adaptations but I would like to see more stories with those characters like crossover stories where Tod, Copper and other TFaTH characters meet with other movie characters or other characters from other universes. I think that a TFaTH and Bambi crossover story will works the best but of course that just my opinion.
