I agree that Ludwig Von Drake should be used more (I've had a 1-page gag on him rejected, claiming "We don't use him anymore!"). And I'd also like to see Donald's Cousin Fethry used more. But, I'd like to see them both used as Barks would have. Here are my own conceptions of them as Barks might have drawn them:
OK, I agree that they both should be used in more stories that are not Italian stories. I have seen your artwork of Barks-styled Ludwig and Fethry before on DCF and I liked your artwork. You said that you had a 1-page gag with Ludwig in it and that it was rejected by Sanoma with this message "We don't use him anymore!". Do you still have a copy of this rejected story or you lost it? I think you should print your Ludwig stories at Egmont instead of at Sanoma if they still have this "Ludwig ban".
My gag page ("story") was NOT rejected. It was bought by Egmont in 1992. But, it was "shelved" because Egmont wasn't using Ludwig at that time. They still own the story, and could use it at any time, IF they can find it. You can view it on my COA Page (2nd Page) under story # D-92334, "The Law of Averages".
A character who I think should appear more: Paddy Pig. In Disney Comics, he appeared on the cover of Mickey Mouse Magazine number six. In cartoons, he appeared in The Band Concert and Mickey's Christmas Carol. And those are quite possibly the only appearances he has ever made. I suppose he wouldn't have much of a personality, having never been featured in a story, but still, I like his character design, and I like obscure characters. (and he is definitely a contender for the most obscure Disney Comic Universe character ever.)
