I agree that Ludwig Von Drake should be used more (I've had a 1-page gag on him rejected, claiming "We don't use him anymore!"). And I'd also like to see Donald's Cousin Fethry used more. But, I'd like to see them both used as Barks would have. Here are my own conceptions of them as Barks might have drawn them:
OK, I agree that they both should be used in more stories that are not Italian stories. I have seen your artwork of Barks-styled Ludwig and Fethry before on DCF and I liked your artwork. You said that you had a 1-page gag with Ludwig in it and that it was rejected by Sanoma with this message "We don't use him anymore!". Do you still have a copy of this rejected story or you lost it? I think you should print your Ludwig stories at Egmont instead of at Sanoma if they still have this "Ludwig ban".
Egmont also had a policy of not wanting to use him in stories. I had planned to use him as an arrogant "know-it-all", bumbling absent minded professor type, rather than an inventor (so as not to have his character compete with Gyro Gearloose). I disagree strongly that Ludwig fills only the character uses of Gyro. They are very different, and fulfill a different range of potential roles.

Ah OK, I didn't know that Egmont also had this "Ludwig ban". I wonder if all those Ludwig stories that you wrote has been rejected by Egmont or something? I agree that he and Gyro are very different characters and their roles are also very different.
I only had submitted the one-page gag, which was rejected by both Dutch Disney (Oberon/VNU/Sanoma) and Danish Disney (Gutenberghus/Egmont). I don't bother completing a 6 or 8 page story starring Ludwig, as I probably couldn't get paid for it. I had a few story plot ideas in mind, but never went further.

OK! So this story was rejected by both Sanoma and Egmont? That sad to hear that but I hope they should change their minds and should start printing more Ludwig stories (including your one-page gag if it is still exists).

Have you tried submitting it to Disney Italy? There were several recent Italian Disney comics story with Ludwig, so I'm almost certain they don't have any kind of "Ludwig ban".
Donald Duck just doesn't appear enough in Disney Comics. I'd like to see more Donald Duck stories. (Please note that I'm just kidding...)
Well, I know that you were just kidding! . Of course, he appeared in a lot of stories. I'm still wondering why you can't think something about a Disney character who didn't appear in a lot of stories? If you don't care about this thread then don't write any posts here .

I haven't yet submitted any stories to Disney Italia. But I may do so in the future for stories with characters Egmont and Sanoma don't use, and also to sell super long stories that I can't sell to the other two publishers. But, I don't really like the Italian art style, nor the 3-tier format. I also would have to change my writing and panel staging storyboard style to match the more action-oriented and zany style, and the more slapstick, rather than high-brow humour style, patterned after Barks. It will be a bit of a challenge, for relatively low pay. But, I may well try it. I also have some Duck-family historical story plots ready to develop that Egmont said were not usable, because they clashed with Rosa's Duck Family tree and timeline. So, I may develop those, and offer them to Disney Italia.

Here in Italy they're trying to bring the 4-tier format in a new comic book, "Tesori International". Maybe you can try to get there.

In general, you might want to try your style anyway.
Disney Italy DOES try to vary their stories, something different than usual might have a good reception.
They've already published a lot of my 4-tier stories in Italy. But only in the special series of 4-tier pocketbooks called something like "Mega Golden 2000".

I didn't know that, as I don't follow that but congratulations.

Yes, The Mega 2000 series of pocketbooks is all 4-tier, and, if I'm not mistaken, is all Egmont-produced stories.
