The Five Nephews of Donald Duck

Here's a curio for those us to whom Phooey Duck is old news: I found this game-comic-thing in Super Picsou Géant #0-123 (it's not currently listed on INDUCKS, as games and illustrations tend not to be because indexers, rather understandably, can't be bothered), which I recently acquired at a charity sale. 



Making it all the more bizarre is that, on top of Nephew B's red (Huey?) and Nephew D's yellow (Phooey, of course), we inexplicably have three different shades of green for the remaining nephews A, C and E.

Since his is the most bluish of the lot, I think A is our safest bet for Dewey, and of the remaining two, E's is the most conventional shade of green usually used for Louie, so let's say he gets to be Louie. 

This leaves innocent-looking Nephew C as the one we absolutely do not know what to make of. 



Any thoughts on this amusing little discovery? And if anyone has suggestions for a name in the vein of the Huey-Dewey-Louie-Phooey naming scheme, I'm taker.

Huey, Dewey, Louie and...Stewie?

Funny by the way, how in the US there is actually a rule as to which name belongs to which color cap. In the Dutch stories it changes with each story, it seems.

Hooey's too like Huey, yes, I think. And Stewie doesn't sit quite right with me either — can't we find something with a single consonant? (Gooey theoretically does the trick but is, obviously, a bit too icky a name to saddle a kid with.)

There didn't use to be — I think the scheme was created for the classic DuckTales and everyone else just kind of followed, or occasionally not. Per Wikipedia, there's a fun way to memorize the orders: "Note that the brightest hue of the three is red (Huey), the color of water, dew, is blue (Dewey), and that leaves Louie, and leaves are green," originating in Dave Smith's Disney A to Z.

No one ever adhered very strongly to these conventions, but I think DT17 has been the final nail in the coffin that will nail them down for good.

I know - the blue in the phrase "out of the blue" is in reference to the hue of the heavens above, as in "out of the clear blue sky". So this name is more about this fifth nephew's sudden appearance, more so than the coincidental mention of a color within the name.

Chewy, Schuey, and Shuey are the only names I can think of. Stewie works well, too, I think. Gooey works, too, it just feels less serious, as does Chewy.

I don't quite get what you're saying here, Scrooge MacDuck. You're taking this little puzzle game - which is clearly not canonical to actual Disney comics - and using that as an argument for Donald Duck having five nephews? But why? It's just a puzzle. The speech bubble from the "A" nephew reads, "Which one of us matches the shadow above"? It's obvious that they decided to use five nephew figures just to make it a bit more difficult than three.

Of course it's juste a puzzle and has no bearing on canon. I think Scrooge MacDuck is just playing along with the joke. :-)
