So yeah I'm going to point out two key problems here:
1. The sword episode suffers from how they made it so that the Duck Triplets only succeeded from outright subverting their specialties to their partners solving the tasks for them. Louie doesn't beat Rockerduck from conning him or even just making a distraction long enough for him to leave the sword piece unguarded, but from Violet just having some technique to let her eat bud burning spices. Huey gets Lena to time freeze Steelbeak and turn himself feral. And Dewey just wins with Webby doing stuff I guess.
2. It's really iffy that the Phantom Blot's episode shows that Magica in this universe is a mass murderer but not only does this get glanced over with the plot overall just treating PB as just a monster to be beaten but Webby and Co. actively defend Magica from him rather than just waiting until he's distracted and taking off with Gladstone while he gets his right vengeance.
Michelle Gomez is a very surprising bit of casting.
I have no idea who Michelle Gomez is, but I'll hazard a guess that she's not Scottish. Isn't it funny how Angones claimed that it was necessary to replace Don Karnage's voice voice actor with a greatly inferior voice actor in the name of ethnic authenticity--even though Karnage actually has no single identifiable ethnicity--but has no problem casting Gomez as a character of Scottish ethnicity. Just another example of how Angones and company continually make up ex post facto excuses for their stupid decisions.

She is Scottish - born in Glasgow. I don't know much about her either - my only exposure to her outside of this is her appearance in Lego Dimensions.
While I'd agree with Don Karnage's replacement being an odd choice (Though I do like Jaime Camil - I thought he was a lot of fun in Legend of the Three Caballeros), Angones' questionable decision making doesn't apply in this situation.

OK, my mistake on that one. Instead of the casting, then, I'll rip on the fact that Angones and company are depicting yet another character as a crazed motormouth; if every freaking character is a shrill weirdo, and every freaking actor is shamelessly hamming things up, the effect is not funny, as Angones seems to think, but rather tiresome and repulsive.

WORD. No, seriously, I don't get this either. Having characters screaming most of their lines is not a character trait.
Crash Bandicoot did the same thing at one point, taking two characters with somewhat weak personalities and deciding that having them SCREAM EVERY LINE was hilarious... and people say that that's the only good thing to come from those games. I don't know, people seem to love it for some reason.

Okay, not everyone is a motermouth man! And the cast is proven capable of pulling off the emotional material really well so they don't scream all the time. And how would you have characterized the main nine then if you don't like their portryals?
I'll believe that in some cases, but absolutely no way that for this case they didn't go "boy everyone loved our referencing Doctor Who by casting David Tennant and Catherine Tate, now we need a scot actress that's related to Scrooge, what other Doctor Who actors can we get in, ooh, Missy was a popular character in recent Dr Who" etc etc.

I think in that case, they all were supposed to learn something out of their comfort zone. Huey learns to embrace his chaotic side and balance with his scheduled persona, and Louie learns that the truth about his family is much more impressive than anything he could make up; and Dewey technically solves things through dumb luck, though once again he learns absolutely nothing, unlike his brothers.

To be fair, the only reason they didn't leave Blot to take care of Magica was because 1: he'd just sucked out the portal in the manor, trapping Scrooge and the boys on another dimension and 2: he espeifically targeted Lena, with deadly intentions. If the girls were sure Lena was safe and that they could find another way to rescue Scrooge and Co, they probably wouldn't bother to interfere with Blot's businness with Magica (maybe to help Gladstone, but even there I doubt so). I do agree that the girls' lack of reaction to Magica's tale, not even demonstrating a hint of empathy is distracting. It sort of reminds me of the boys' indifference in Voodoo Hoodoo when they heard what Scrooge did to Foola Zoola's village, like it didn't really matter.

Not that this proves Missy didn't play some kind of influence, but Angones alleges that they were mostly goign off her role in Green Wing.

To be fair, he also alleged that Donald is a main character

HUH... So after loving last weeks episode I'm oddly indifferent about this one.
I wouldn't even say it bad there just wasn't much going on in it and I think that's a bito f a disapointment since it had a lot of going on I should love.
If anything works about this show Castle McDuck set-up is that it has a genuine atmoshpere to it. For whatever reason I did like Phantom Blot in this episode much more and him and the ducks fighting over a magical artifact felt like more traditional role. It also had some neat magic with gigantic statues of Clan McDuck comming to life and the scottish music was nice...
Yet - agian, there wasn't much it. I actualy sort of zone out half way and had to remind myself what's the main conflict between the McDucks.
Scrooge and his parents and Matilda geting into fights and Webby trying to be the peacemaker just isn't that interesting and felt like some generic sitcom set-up and takes most of the episode which feel like a waste for more adventorus plot.
I honestly didn't buy the entire "Oh, no! I broke clan McDuck" Webby arc.
As for Matilda... I don't mind they didn't fallow Rosa's version. I think a character used so little and not having that many memoralbe character trades (at least for me) feels more open to interpretion... This version just isn't interesting. She just feels like a generic sister character and Emu thing was wird and not funny. They bring up that she is also starting her own buisnesses all the time but that felt somehow undersued. MAYBE if the point was that she is a rival buisness woman or that she is somehow tied to the fact her brother is the richest person in the world (feels envy or underappriciated) they could squized something more interesting... Here she just throw some ironic comments at Scrooge ant that's it.
The Blots "comic relief" assistant is... well... when I seen her for the first time I asumed she will be more annoying (that character was almost design to be frustrating) and she's not that bad... but I don't think she did anything particulary funny. I guess it was nice to have someone to get under Blots skin and find some humanity in him but I find her overall redundant.
Huey/Louie arc is something I forgot it was there.
Honestly the best part for me (and only one I find trully funny) is Dewey pretending to be dead and the idea that the family buys it is somehow funny in a macabre way.
Also I have to note the odd lack of interaction between HD&L and Matilda. They sort of have zero reaction to her... MAYBE they should be the ones explainig Webby who Matilda is and at least give a symbolic conection? It realy feels like they are indifferent to her
Hortense is never broth up and I have to wonder - when Webby say that Matilda is "Scrooges younger sister" did they ment she is younger then him or that she is the younger of his siblings?
[Also sorry shipers - No mention of Matilda/Von Drake relationship in here... But don't worry, I'm also fan fof that ship so will shread a single tear for us all]
I guess one more good point is that Scrooge is also pretty active in this episode... I know "last few episodes FINALY make him feell like the main character" sounds strange when the show intro says he is the main character but we know that's not always the case in this show.
What can I add? Overal a "just ok episode"...

The new Matilda is so annoying. The only thing that worked about this new episode was the creation of two new female McDuck ancestors, but that's more of a lore thing and really doesn't have anything to do with good storytelling
