"The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker!"
Not much to say about this one other then it was enjoyable.
I haven't watch "Tale Spin" this many times (perhaps I haven't even seen all of the episodes) but it felt like a nice homage to the series.
I like all the action, colors and when they played "Tale Spin" music it was cool - just not as cool like whe they played "Rescue Rangers" theme. I do wonder how much Molly's apperance at the end will be meaningful for people who didn't watch the show. They refrence her in first act but when shea apperse they try to play it off like "OMG! IT'S THAT CHARACTER!!!" but it felt not to have meaning in the context of the episode/show.
Don Carnage felt like a bigger jerk then he was before on this show (felt like they try to have him act more like the TaleSpin one) and I enjoy all the freaky creaters the piratets turn into.
It felt also strange to have a pilot-theme episode and not have Launchpad in it.
I like the animal hybrids (Woozels) but it is strange that they keep refrencing bears (as in animals) and Kid also calls himself bears few time... Goofy/Pluto situation never bothered me but this was somehow off.
Not sure is Baloo is ment to be dead or retire in this unvierse but it's nice they refrence him.
Also - Kid's toilet ha a sign that say "THE WOODS"
"The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck!
Well seeing how this is last episode before the finaly I must say it was nice that they made an episode focusing on Scrooges main villains.
The setup was great . Me (as well lot of internet pointed out) that it's the SAME PLOT as "Batman the animated series" episode "THE TRAIL" where all of Batman villains put him on a trial for turning them into villains... even the conclusion is very similiar, however... I honestly didn't mind it. Diffrent villains + extra magical twist.
What I sort of like and didn't like at the same time was Doofus Drake being their lawyer.
On one hand it worked... There is something about the way he talks that made him sound like a "Simple Country Lawyer" trope...
It's just the fact THIS is the cahracter that broth all the villains together felt... strange. Like how he has the magic conections exactly to pull this? It realy should have been Magica's plot.
Also the joke about him licking Lousie... Come on!
The Themis/Lady Justice statue was somehow creepy to me and it's a cool idea to have the "judge" be this muste statue that's only comunicate by her lips and hiting her sword into the ground. Clever stuff.
Glomgold's story was ok... It was a nice setup with the sharks cave and while his back-story was only played for laughs rather then add any real extra deept I didn't found Glomgold that annoying in it.
Also I like that they clarify that kid Glomgold stolen 2 biions from Scrooge that days!
Ma Beagle's story... Welp, we finally see how Scrooge got the legendary deed to Duckburg. Looks like it's last time this thing is mentioned (unless it will comes up in the finaly but I don't think so)
You know, for something they set-up as far as first half of season 1 personaly I think they wasted a pretty good plot. I love the idea that the Beagles goal is to reclaim the town their family owned long ago but they never did anything interesting with it. It's just there so Ma Beagle can have some other motivation other then just be a criminal but they never did anything interesting with this. In my opinion the Beagles remain the most underused villains, which is a shame since I like their voices and characters on this show.
Overall Ma's segment was fine - if not to short - but just a disapointment seeing how it's Beagles are used very last time as the villains on this show and they didn't do that much with them.
FINALY we get Magica's story and it's the best part. Ilove Poe's design as a raven.
While this Magica was a twisted menace BEFORE she meet Scrooge I can't help but to feel sorry for her. It dose make her more sympathethic and I HOPE this plotline return in the final episode (it would be so odd if they didn't)
Also they mange to make Scrooge like a greey jerk her... Which is a welcomed change. I like that Scrooge ACTUALY commited some type of a sin and so there was an actual reason for this trial (I mean not hepling Magica aside and not sharing his money withe people... he pretty much robbed Magica here)
*WHAT DOSEN'T WORK* is the fact that Magica want's Scrooge's numer one dime as her compensation!
Oh, if it was the comics that's all fine - what else she would want?
BUT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SHOW??? Um, wasn't the reason she wanted Lena to ge the dime was the fact she was trapped in it??? The show never mentioned she want's the dime for the same reasons as in the comics...
And all they had to do is just have a line or two that Magica needs the dime as part of some spell to find/bring back her brother... But as far I recall they didn't. So Magica cheering about finaly geting the dime makes zero sense in the context of the episode or the show. Also the Magica flashback feels like a big part of the puzzle it still feels like there is tad more to explain so let's hoping they will explain it more in the final episode.
While I like the way case is resolved I must say the ending felt rushed.
It's overall a great episode just some parts felt unsatisfactory in the context of the show.
