Yes, Violet was announce to have gay parents in the past but of course the reaction is diffrent once people (including those who don't fallow the usual groups/blogs) see it in anactual episode.
Goofy, here, ended up playing the role I thought Daisy would ... a figment of Donald's imagination (the joke at the end suggesting otherwise notwithstanding).
I read that one creators (Angones propably) mention that Goofy know Donald before the events of the episode and that he exist in the regular Duck Tales universe.
I can guess that presumably Genie magic bring him to his sitcom world for the sake of having the wacky-next-door neighbor slash special guest star trope and then just drop him off in the cave after wish was over.
Interesting that we had two Genie-in-the-lamp stories... just like the orginal series.
…Well that's… that's one way of bringing that cast of characters into the 2017 Continuum.
Solves a lot of MEAS incompatibility issues, I'll give them that ...
(also, I wondered if the reversed ray was going to turn Scrooge into a non-anthropomorphic duck. Thank goodness that wasn't the case; would have really messed things up.)
Interestingly, in his first appearances Steelbeak seemed to be far more serious than in the few episodes I watched with him, so now he seems to have got back his comedic streak. I don't remember him being this dumb, though. I wonder, when Chip and Dale appear, what will their dynamic with Donald be?
Hey, hey... Don't insult rats like that! I did script for educational comic about rats. Actualy their inteligence level is pretty much the same as a dog. You can teach them to respond by name and... Oh, never mind.
But also an even bigger insult to biology - Gadget was a mouse not a rat! Man, I wish It was just part of Steelbeak and they will point it out in the actual episode...
This being said : So you pretty much have the villians from "Darkwing Duck" experimenting on characters from "Rescue Rangers" to get revange on the cast of "Duck Tales" to get back magic juice from "The Gummi Bears" . Man, I can't help but love this.
I do miss Steelbeaks old voice/acent/maner of talking and yhe, I don't think he was this dumb but I will judge after the actual episode.
BTW - Did Stealbeak actualy ever used his beak as a weapon in Darwking Duck? I do remember him being more of master-mind type and less someone who would confront Darwking in phisical confrontation.
(also, I wondered if the reversed ray was going to turn Scrooge into a non-anthropomorphic duck. Thank goodness that wasn't the case; would have really messed things up.)
Heh! I do think that would be funny if that's what they going for. At the same time, It would be pretty much the plot of "Zootopia"....

It's took me few minutes before into this episode but overall I enjoy it. I had some good laughs, mostly from Launchpad and Scrooge subplot even if I'm in gneral not a fan when Scrooge is just reduce to a side-character like this. But... eh. He only have like four lines in the orginal "Double O Duck" episode of old show. I don't mind it here.
There where however few things that drag it dwon from being great :
1) It It felt odd to make entire James Bond spoff since we already have the entrie spy-thing going on with Mrs. Beakley which felt more interesting there with personality of it's own.
2) This is minor one but I wish Stealbeak had his accent or style of talking as is would makde him tad more distinquish... They entire thing of him wanting be respected/smart more coud been handle better.
3) But for me the biggest flaw was introducing "smart" Launchpad so late in the game... it was like 2/3 into the episode and once he get smart (much like Bubba in the old show) he becomes pretty much a new character and he felt underdeveloped. I think it work for the episode if he was introudce more early one. His goodbye/sacrafice would felt more powerfull.
It's not like these elements ruinned the episode for me, it's just after watching it it felt like script could have been more improved in this places.
And, yhe I know this shows love to pull nostalgia strings but I can't help but feel a thrill once they played Rescue Rangers instrumental theme song when we see them in action for the first time.
In fact I for some reason I love that Rescue Rangers don't talk in this! They only in two scenes but I loved these cameos and looks like they are seting up more in the future...
I think it would be very funny if they would simply have them appear in random moments of the season doing stuff in the back-ground and Deus ex Machina our heroes whenever they in need of the Rescue.
Was the name of the diamond taken from the pilot episode of RR? I must check out...
I did enjoy Dewie's song in the opening teaser.
Overall a good epiosde, just felt it could have been a bit more.

I'm thinking it would have been better if the introduction of the Rescue Rangers was a gradual process ... in this episode, we see Gadget's origins, perhaps in other episodes we could have seen how Chip and Dale, Monty and Zipper became intelligent beings (since it's clear that in this universe, they had to have been MEAS-1 type creatures to begin with). We do see Chip and Dale in the recorded scene where Gadget gets blasted by the intelligence ray, but they're too small to tell what "state" they're in. The presumption is that all the Rescue Rangers were subjected to the same intelligence ray, but I think it'd have been more interesting if they each had different origins and then met up (maybe some of them resulted from Gyro's experimentations, some were a result of Magica's spells, etc). The formation of the Rescue Rangers as a group could have been a multi-episode subplot. Also, perhaps they could have always worked behind-the-scenes and never been seen by the "human" characters (as was the case in the original CDRR series, I believe), or maybe only Launchpad ever sees them, making the others doubt his sanity. Anyway, not being a CDRR fan, I don't particularly care. I wonder how the Wuzzles will be introduced?
Once again, please stop using this kind of language. It is offensive, and I'm sure it will eventually get you banned (honestly, I'm really not sure why you haven't been banned yet, having repeatedly broken the forum rules after being warned multiple times). Please, stop using this kind of language, or find another forum that allows the sort of awful thing you so obviously enjoy posting.
That clip of "Steelbeak" is another example (like "Don Karnage's" crew) of how Angones and his gang don't have more than a wiki-level familiarity with the Disney Afternoon cartoons, let alone the Duck comic books. Steelbeak from Darkwing Duck was almost a villainous Bugs Bunny type--a wise-cracking smart aleck with a Noo Yawk accent who loved to mock the self-important Darkwing, was always accompanied by a cocky-sounding music theme to match his personality, and rarely took himself entirely seriously. He was always the field commander of the FOWL forces when the organization popped up in an episode; making him into a moronic thug is about par for the clueless Angones course. The real Steelbeak was also a suave ladies' man, or at least a G-rated spoof version of the same; turning him into a physically bullied foil for a Much Smarter female character likewise has nothing to do with the original character, although it is also par for this show's utterly predictable gender-political course.

djnyr, I was equally disappointed with how the show wrote Steelbeak in this episode, but I don't think it's fair to suppose that Angones and his crew don't know their Disney Afternoon. Angones has written repeatedly about how much of a "Darkwing Duck" fan he was growing up in contexts where it's simply mean-spirited to doubt his word.
It's just a new take on character and there could been diffrent reasons behind it like wanting to alter his personality so there would be conflict between the F.O.W.L. agents or it developed this way as the script was rewriten to fit the story's theme.
We may not like this version but changes don't equal creators being ignorant of the orginal.. and seeing what love letter to 90's Disney Afternoon this seasons episodes are It's hard to me imagine them not rewatching them religiously.
I'm perhaps more tolerant to changes like this since I'm use to Batman do it all the time and experimenting with diffrent takes on characters in new shows (for example the versions of The Penguin swhich between sophisticated and calm gentelman character, to psychotic brute with animal manierism who tries to pretend he is sophisticated, to something in-between)
I do however (speaking of show politics) have to wonder did Steelbeak trademark accent was consider non-PC... Not that it was offencive, but perhaps they didn't want that type of accent coming from a criminal character since I recall it was often used for gangsters and such.
Till now, I never saw any reason to doubt Angones' professed admiration for Darkwing Duck, since I could see him liking that show's more jokey and superficial tone, as opposed to the tone of the other early Disney Afternoon shows. However, the faux-Steelbeak in this episode makes me pretty sure that Angones' Darkwing experience was limited to watching episodes as a kid and then talking about the show on the Internet, not actually rewatching the series as an adult. No one who had actual familiarity with the show, as opposed to mere fuzzy nostalgia, could have got one of its major recurring villains so wrong--unless Angones deliberately chose to change Steelbeak into a different character, maybe to punish him for his swaggering Toxic Masculinity in his original incarnation.

Angones claims that Steelbeak’s character will not be stagnant and that they’re going somewhere with him, but this could mean a number of things. I want to have faith in Angones and his team, as I generally enjoy the show, but with all they’ve changed in the past I’m not sure how much I can. I suppose we’ll just have to see.
So far other Darwking characters (including Darwking himself) where on point. I seriously don't mind these charanges as long they will do something interesting with them.
BTW - Some one on facebook posted this image for the next episode...
