However, I have written in my notes (probably because someone posted it before on this forum) that in the end of the story their titles and possessions are again seized because of the French Revolution. So, how would that work then? Are you implying that (within a few years time) they gain the title, their title is seized, they regain the title somehow, and then the county is also elevated to a duchy? I am not a historian, so I don't know if that makes any sense realistically.
The titles extinguished by the French Revolution were restored with the return of the Bourbons (probably not the lands, if they were seized); I imagine that until 1848 (the definite end of the Bourbon/Orleans monarchy), a count could be elevated to duke by the king. And, ofc, in the republics the former counts, dukes, etc. continue to style themselves as "counts", "dukes", etc.
Something about Duckshire and nobility I found some more information on Duckshire. The Italian series Paperin di Boscoscuro plays in the County of Duckshire during the middle ages. The same goes for I TL 2880-3. Because the stories play during medieval times they won’t have any information for the tree, it is interesting, however, to note that there is evidence for a noble title connected to a place called Duckshire in so many stories.
I TL 2034-5 is set in 1789, at the start of the French revolution. An ancestor of Daisy’s (called Catherine in the Dutch translation) is living in Paris. A Scrooge-copy and grandma-copy are living with her; in the story they are her uncle and grandma respectively. The Scrooge-character tells Catherine that they are not part of the nobility. At the end of the story, Scrooge inherited the title, castle and land of a count. That suggests that he is indeed of noble descent, although he doesn’t seem to know at the beginning of the story. That probably means they are part of a very distant branch of this family.
It could be that the title in question is ‘Count of Duckshire’, which later gets raised to ‘Duke of Duckshire’. This kind of ‘elevation’ happened more often in history. The County of Guelders for example was elevated to a duchy in 1339, the County of Cleves in 1417. The County of Duckshire would be elevated to the Duchy of Duckshire shortly after 1789 then, as the Duchess of Duckshire in ZD 73-02-11 looks very 18th-century to me. Hypothetically, Catherina herself could be the same person as the Duchess.
In I TL 3466-1P, set in 1930, there appears another lady called ‘Duchess of Duckshire’ (scan below). Looking at a scan I found on the internet, she looks too tall to be the same person as the Duchess in W US 47-01. If we assume that the ‘present’ is in the 50s, in view of the age of the Duchess, it is hard to believe that the Duchess from 1930 is her mother. It could be her sister, who died before the ‘present’, after which the lady from the Barks-story inherited the title.
Very interesting. Although I'd say almost certainly Gervasio did intend the Duchess from that Fantomius story to be the same as the one from the Barks story. Gervasio puts lots of references to (very obscure) Barks characters in his strories, like the mad duke from "House of Haunts", the Phantom from "Notre Duck" and Grandpa Ratchet from "The Great Steamboat Race". The taller design is probably a stylistic choice (like how they made Quackfaster taller in the Italian comics, to differentiate her from Grandma Duck).

I agree. I think it is supposed to be a younger version of the Barks' character.

'Duckshire' also doesn't sound very French. Is that is indeed the title they inherit, than maybe it is a foreign title (British), which of course wouldn't be abolished by the French government. Given that they weren't aware, at first, that they were noblemen, it could very well be that their distant relative is not French.
I was thinking to add two more generations for the next update, so that should include those that are born (approximately) between 1560 and 1600. For this, I have at the moment the following additions:
Dobian MacDuck from G A 7.
the Duke of Paperburgh (the Earl of Asketty) from I TL 1104-B.
Douwe Duckszoon from H 2015-277.
An unnamed pub owner from H 26196.
John Duck from Qit/DDCO 5d.
Margarida from B 860211.
Murgatroyd Mallard from W DD 30-04.
A French musketeer mentioned in I TL 188-AP, of whom I don't know the original name. In Dutch he is called Duck-Duc, in German he is called D'Uckagnan.

Assuming we're still not allowing the characters from the Shanghai Tree (Which I'd like to bring into question again, though things are kind of jammed now so I'll leave it for a better time)
Richard Quackett was alive during the 16th century, though the time period is unspecified This might be outside of your cutoff date, but S 76176 refers to 'Sir Francis Duck' - if he's indeed meant to be an expy of Francis Drake, then he'd presumably have lived from 1540 – 1596
I've been gathering a list of relatives that aren't included in the tree, though it's very scattered and several don't really have time periods that I'm aware of

Richard Quackett joined Francis Drake on the Golden Hind in 1577 (I CD 529I-1), lived in Nova Albion since 1579 and was still living there in 1585 (I TL 3139-1).
Anyone have a picture of "Calamity Daisy," Daisy's cowgirl ancestor? That's seemingly been a mystery for duck-ologists since the Gilles Tree era. If Inducks is to be believed her story has only been printed twice, both in Brazil.
Dobian MacDuck from G A 7, was added as the direct ancestor of Dackmar and brother of Scrooge’s direct ancestor.
The Duke of Paperburgh from I TL 1104-B is back on the tree, as an ancestor of the current duke, and brother of Scrooge’s direct ancestor.
Douwe Duckszoon from H 2015-277 was added as the great-great-grandfather of Johannes De Duck.
The musketeer Duck-Duc (original name still needed) from I TL 188-AP was added as the great-grandfather of De Paperonier.
The pub owner from H 26196 was added as the grandfather of Donald’s ancestor in a carriage.
John Duck from Qit/DDCO 5d was added as the father of the above.
Margarida from B 860211 was added as Daisy’s ancestor via her French branch.
Murgatroyd Mallard from W DD 30-04 was added as the ancestor of Cedric Canvasback.
Other additions
Rockerduck’s granduncle from I TL 2026-3 was added as the brother of Harold Rockerduck.
The two French relatives of the McMallards (l’Orange du Canard and Dabloc de Washloups) were added. I also gave the McMallards the first names from the American publication.
Changes related to Daisy’s nobility relatives.
The previous queen of Quackland is now a cousin of the current Duchess of Duckshire, and the three cousins from the Quackland story also moved to the other side of Daisy’s family.
Cedric Canvasback is now a grandson of the previous queen of Quackland.
Paperine Oquette was merged with the previous duchess of Duckshire, so Paperine’s relatives were all moved.
A “count of Duckshire” was added of whom the Oquettes inherited the title.
Some changes for simplification and balancing of the tree:
Scrooge’s uncle Hester was moved and is now a brother of Downy O’Drake.
Sourdough was also moved to become a brother of Downy.
Scrooge’s cousins Fatso and Paul were moved to become brothers of Muckirana.
Paparella de Quadrifoglis was moved to become the mother of Gastone Gander.
Felice Cornucopia was moved to become the grandfather of Paperella de Quadrifoglis.
Fortunio Paperunio was moved to become the great-grandfather of Gastone Gander.
Angus McDuck (D 88149), Ian McDuck, Hugh McDuck and Meg McDuck were moved, to become children of Jake McDuck.
Angus (D 7984) was made a brother of Rufus Fuddleduck.
Scrooge’s great-uncle Patatinhas was moved to become a brother of Zeebaars.
Other changes
Tobias Duck was moved, to become Crockett’s great-grandfather. The duck with the sabre, is now Crockett’s father, while the “ye gossip” duck from the same story, took the position of the duck with the sabre.
Dorinda from D 97076 was moved. She is now a granddaughter of Neeltje Geertruida.
Donald McDuck from I AT 285-B was moved. He is now a brother of Scrooge’s father.
Thusnelda is now really removed. I forgot to remove her last time (she had been merged with Dora).
The bearded brother of Silas from the same episode as Silas was on the tree twice, so one entry has been removed.
The vampire uncle from I TL 1969-B was removed, as he turns out not to be a relative.
Midas McDuck’s unknown wife was removed as she had no name, no picture and no reference.
Pocosalato was renamed Pocosalato Paperus and is now the husband of a sister of Paperett Custar.
The picture of one of the children of Landy and Molly was changed.
The surname of Daphne (H 26240) was removed as it is not mentioned in the story.

I'd be willing to buy a copy, but I've been having no luck in finding one. It doesn't seem like there are any Brazilian comics on eBay, and the one listing I found of "Disney Apresenta: Margarida" (a collection which features the story) does not ship outside of Brazil, and the website doesn't have an email function. If anyone finds a listing or knows where I might look, feel free to send it my way!

I love hearing about bizarre/obscure Disney works - recommendations welcome!
Also, apologies to bring it up - I know I was the one pushing to have them removed - but what's the story with the Trouwharts in other printings? I know that in the original script, Grandma doesn't marry Raymond, but is it true that Klazien marries Bertus in the Dutch version?
Again, apologies for the issues around them - their situation is a strange one.

Klazien does not marry in the Dutch publication. They plan to marry after Bertus returns from his trip, but he never returns.

What is the "Shanghai Tree"?
In Shanghai Disneyland, there's a restaurant - Il Paperino - in which the following image can be seen:
It's not really accepted as 'canon' by any sources, but I thought it was worth bringing up again
