And I partly understand them. They grew up with Disney Afternoon cartoons and they liked Darkwing Duck the most and wanted them to direct that series. But since Disney was not interested in a Darkwing Duck reboot at the time, but in a Ducktales reboot (especially due to the special popularity gained by the game Ducktales Remastered from 2013, I could say in addition to the Ducktales Movie and a good ending for Ducktales), they decided to they used the series to get what they wanted. Unfortunately, the failure of that series in the end (despite much praise on social media) meant they weren't given the Darkwing Duck reboot they so desperately wanted.
I see that you often mention comparisons of other modern animated series and other reboots and I will just tell you that not every modern series turned out to be good in the end, like every reboot, but that every marketing will require some maintenance of the franchise to get its audience and make every reboot the next 10 or 20 years, depending on whether your franchises turned out great in the end. I will tell you that for me the good reboots were like Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, Mickey Mouse Cartoons by Paul Rudish, Looney Tunes Cartoons, Danger Mouse from 2015, MLP Friendship is Magic (although that series caused a lot of toxicity among fans ), TMNT 2012 and certainly Green Eggs and Ham because they really respected the originality and made those series in even better positions. Even though Teen Titans Go differs from the original, that series is still very popular among the children's audience today, because that series has a very good comedy that appeals to children. The type of so-called dark adventures that started with Adventure Time not so much because it's not interesting for kids anymore.
And pretty sure DuckTales 2017 wasn't a failure. Regardless of what you think, the show was successful considering it got an art book, a podcast, and even a theme park attraction in World Showcase Adventure over a year after the show ended. Even the 2017 versions of the nephews and Webby have appeared in the updated Mickey's Toontown in Disneyland with Donald Duck's Boat being remodeled after this series. So pretty clear the show was deemed successful and has put DuckTales in a better position (at least it is giving more attention to Disney Afternoon for modern audiences now than before) even if this specific site isn't keen on the show.
Like I'd say the show was on par with MLP Friendship is Magic, Mickey Mouse Cartoons by Paul Rudish, and Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated in terms of success for the reason I mentioned above.
It's fine if you like that series, but if it was really as successful as MLP Friendship is Magic, I'm sure it would have sequels and more praise, but not be trending right now. I wouldn't agree that Ducktales is the same as Paul Rudish Mickey, Mickey Mouse Cartoons still used the original materials well and respected that and had great humor. Also The Legend of The Three Caballeros had better humor and more adventures than the Ducktales reboot. But again I respect your opinion.
