Map of the new Duckburg:
Stray observations:
That airship in the sky — random element, or the Hindentanic?
"Rockerduck Estate" on the far left — here's your confirmation he's in the new series, though judging from the lack of info about his voice actor and design, I suppose he'll either be a surprise-villain a la Magica De Spell, or a minor cameo.
Looks like this McDuck Manor is not on the outskirts of town, but instead occupying the same sort of spot as the Money Bin in comics, standing on top of a large hill dominating the city.
Like the airship — is that giant squid a random element to emphasize the "city of adventure" thing they're building up for Duckburg, or is it a Chekhov's Gun?
That lighthouse. Is it a random element, or… Or maybe… Hmmm. Food for thought.
Duckburg is traditionally at sea, but is this the first time this is emphasized so much? Look at that gigantic harbor on the right, the Money Bin being located on a pier, etc.…
That's the duck-billed Zeus from the Carl-Barks-scriped cartoon Trombone Trouble sleeping on a cloud in the upper right corner. Is it a random cameo, or are the old Donald cartoons (if only the ones Barks wrote) sort-of-canon to this series, I wonder? And even if not, does that mean they're going to involve the Greek gods at some point and use the Trombone Trouble design for that purpose?
So I seen the entire first episode... IT'S GREAT!!!
Many jokes made me laugh and so plenty of cool easter eggs and the clifhanger at the end made me drop of my sucks (I won't dare to SPOIL it)
I do got use to all the new voices quickly. David Tennant realy won me over as Scrooge and while HD&L have difrent personalites for most part they feel like the boys we love so much.
I do like that they focuse more on Donald/Scrooge relationship (something they didn't explore that much in old show or animation in general) and new Glomgold is great and has a style to him.
The animation is nice... the only nitpeack is that they could made the Atlatins part more exiting. The old DuckTales realy had a gift to make any treasure Scrooge was after feel as epic as possible. Here it's just ok... To much dark blue.
Still it was a great pilot and it made me hyped-up for the rest of the show.
Know as Maciej Kur, Mr. M., Maik, Maiki, Pan, Pan Miluś and many other names.

Watched it. Hmm, Quackmore and Hortense are here but they look really different from the Don Rosa model. Hortense has a full beak rather than a nephews-style, shorter one, and Quackmore himself has a completely different haircut from the comics and he apparently regained the mustache he had way back in his debut in Mark Worden's family tree.

I also finished watching the episode just now. I really liked it. I was very happy to see Della, Hortense, Quackmore. Sure, they look different from Rosa's model, but it is good they put them.
Did anyone saw Gladstone Gander in there? It was the joke of what is good for the goose note, and put an arrow pointing at Gladstone's photo as he is a gander.
Glomgold I like him. He has this obsessive and crazy personality when he gets angry. Kind of remind me of me when I get angry, lol

Right, so apparently the next episodes (which will, sadly, only come out mid-September) will be Daytrip of Doom, The Great Dime Chase and The Beagle Birthday Massacre. I have an inkling they may switch back to 25 minutes after the pilot, but we'll see. Either way, I have a hard time believing something called Great Dime Chase will not involve Magica, so we'll probably be seeing her debut pretty soon.
Aperently there is some secret archive under it (the clip shown that the duck-lady who chase HD&L with a sword works there)... maybe it's inspired by Rosa's "Gurdian's of the Lost Laibary" and even below we see...
Gyro's lab! In a cave... Man, do this make me think of Batman.
It's cool and all but money level still looks to low to me... It's still a lot by avrage mortal standards but you would expect somebody as rich as Scrooge to have at least three times as much...

An archive room under the bin isn't a new concept (and it wouldn't surprise me if in this continuity Scrooge had decided to turn the empty library room from Guardians into his archives). I think it shows up in The Last Voyage of Ringtail Van Dukke, among others.
What I find more puzzling is the apparent low level of gold. That bin isn't even half-full, for goodness sake!

Don't know about that ... the promo for the episode seems to suggest that the storyline will revolve around Louie putting Ol' Number One in a vending machine, and the rest of the episode will presumably follow Scrooge's attempts to get it back. Magica may not be involved at all. I have a feeling they're saving Magica for some kind of major reveal in a future season. Also, I was very surprised to see the name "Rockerduck" on the Duckburg map posted above. We haven't heard anything about voice actors cast for Rockerduck, or for that matter Della or Magica. Some things they've really managed to keep under wraps ...
I just wish they'd based Hortense and Quackmore on Rosa's designs, like they did for Fergus and Downy. There was really no reason for them to ignore those designs and create characters that looked so different. Also, I wish they had given us a better organized Duck family tree than the haphazard one Webby showed the nephews ... with Hortense mentioned twice, Della not mentioned at all (despite being shown as HD&L's mother on a painting later on) and no clear generational structure. But that's just the "inner nerd" in me speaking. I guess I should be happy that these characters have finally been named/shown in animation at all.

But it's not a family tree, though, is it? It's just Webby's sorry attempt at one, in-universe. We may see a "real" tree later on.
As for Quackmore and Hortense, I don't think they entirely made their "new designs" up. My feeling is that they wanted to go back to the sources, with Mark Worden's 1981 designs. You know, from this:
I find the resemblance quite striking. Quackmore's mustache, Hortense's eyebrows, haircut and clothes… I'd be surprised if it was a mere coincidence.
I imagine they might have changed Quackmore's appearance so he doesn't look identical to Donald. Rosa's version of Quackmore is essentially just Donald with more hair. As for the moneybin, I'd be willing to bet that the money level will rise as the series progresses and Scrooge and the nephews go on more adventures. One of the promos confirmed the current bin is new too, so we might even get to see the old one at Killmotor hill in the episode set in the 60s.

Yes, I think it's clear from your side-by-side comparisons that the Worden designs were the inspiration. Which is an odd choice from a team that claims that it had copies of Life of Scrooge around as reference material. Rosa's version of these characters has been widely accepted and used by other artists, so I'd have thought that would have been the obvious choice. As for, "Quackmore is just Donald with more hair", yes, but it shouldn't be too big a problem since Quackmore is probably only going to be seen in flashbacks and on portraits (if at all). The same argument could be made about Fergus, who is essentially indistinguishable from Scrooge by Rosa's design, but whom the series has chosen to portray unchanged.
Also, and we expected this from the trailers and the intro, but this series seems to dip much, much more heavily into the supernatural than the comics or it predecessor, not a choice I would personally have made. Also something I'm not fond of: Scrooge is depicted as something approaching a superhero, capable of amazing physical feats even in his old age ... there is some echo of that in Rosa's work, but it's never as unambiguous as it is here.
BTW, where are you getting those maps of the new Duckburg and the Money Bin?

On seeing Quackmore: well, they're bringing Della back, so you never know. Even if it's just flashbacks they may have a more important role.
As for the supernatural elements… yes, it's definitely a departure from the norm, though I mostly like it, personally. (And while it's a stark contrast to Barks, not so much so from the original series; sure, they were less prominent, but we still had, off the top of my head, the Djinn episode, the immortal EL CAPITAN — I can't say it any other way because of the Nostalgia Critic —, Gene the Genie and Merlock in the movie, Circe and the monsters in Home Sweet Homer, the Golden Goose, and the giant minotaur from Raiders of the Lost Ark, not to mention a clearly-magical Magica.) And on the other hand, Scrooge being extremely strong (though not supernaturally so, I think, even in this new series) is something you can indeed glimpse in Rosa, and definitely saw in the original series (remember Duck of Alquatraz where he beats all the inmates at arm wrestling?). I'm not at all bothered by it.
