As far I can tell they are trying to play with difrent relationship/dynamic in each episode (last one was Scrooge/Huey, previews one was Louie/Webby) Donald/Webby can't be to far and it's an interesting idea, espeshialy since they never interacted in the oryginal show.
In the pilot episode it looked like they were setting Webby up to be a Donald fangirl, hero-worshipping him as a daredevil role mode despite his obvious inadequacies (a little like the Doofus-Launchpad relationship in the original show) with HD&L looking on bewildered at her adoration of their flawed uncle. That would have been an interesting dynamic to see, but it seems they've decided against developing it further, unfortunately.
Wouldn't it be an interesting twist if pilot Della and pilot Launchpad had some kind of previous relationship? Attended the same flight school, maybe, or Della somehow inspired Launchpad? Is Launchpad significantly younger than Donald/Della or are they the same age? I guess these are questions to ask Angones. I'm sure he won't just say "spoilers".

Fandom is way ahead of you. There are already Launchpad/Della shippers in spades.

So the mystery of HD&L's father is finally solved!

I suppose that was unavoidable, once they put Della in pilot headgear.

I doubt that Della and Launchpad will officially be revealed as ever having been a romantic couple, but the possibility of Launchpad having some kind of a prior relationship with Della, personal or professional, and possessing some knowledge of her fate, can't be completely ruled out, I daresay (although he will likely be portrayed as too stupid to realize it and will probably just let something slip that a smarter character like one of the nephews or Webby will have to put together).

I agree. I just meant that fans were bound to ship them, since both characters are pilots and "available".

Yes, although such shipping presupposes that Della is a single mother (an idea I subscribe to, but which is hardly consensus opinion). DuckTales'17 does seem to be going in that direction, though. Since the show is set in present-day (rather than the events occurring in the 1940s/50s, like it does in the Rosaverse and in both our headcanons), that wouldn't be unusual.
Fandom loves its shipping. Any character who exchanges more than two words in any canon will have dozens of fanfics written about how true their love is. Regardless of age, gender, and whether or not they're related. ^_^

And regardless of whether they're even alive ... after all Della '17 could well be dead after all for all we know (although that's unlikely and I guess most Della-Launchpad shipping is set in the past, although it would be strange in that case that Launchpad didn't know who Donald, HD&L were in the pilot, but as you say, why let established facts get in way of a good shipping narrative?).

Oh, and if Fethry were to appear on this show (and he really should), what kind of voice does everyone think he should have? Any voice actor recommendations? If this were the 70s/80s I would have expected them to cast Howard Morris (doing his Wade Duck/Jughead-type voice).

Morris would have worked, that's true.
Elsewhere on the internet, "Weird Al" Yankovic has been suggested as a possible voice actor for Fethry, and while I was previously unfamiliar with his cartoon work, I can kind of see it; plus, it sort of fits with the casting decisions they've made for this show so far.
